Web Application for BBS Regional Statistical Offices

Challenge

Bangladesh Bureau of Statics has been providing the Government of Bangladesh and the whole nation with statistical information on demographics, the economy, and other facts about the country and disseminating the information which in turn has been transforming in meaningful decision making and development work processes. But due to unfamiliarity and lack of digital presence as well as access, people of Bangladesh were unaware of the usage and accessibility to statistical information. BBS has been serving the country with more than 38 years but to cope with the need of 21st century it realized a need for digitalization for more accessibility for the people of Bangladesh.

Solution

For this challenge, BBS has decided to develop a dynamic web application from which anyone can easily access to any information from back in past times to present. Synesis IT came up with a web application for 8 wings and regional statistical offices of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. This initiative assisted BBS to achieve an online platform through which BBS can communicate with all the regional statistical offices online.  

Social Impact and Benefits

§ Through this Web application software, online data entry system for 8 wings of BBS and all Regional Statistical Office (RSO) for various survey and census related information have been accomplished successfully.

§ Data migration of more than 110 million records of population census from old legacy system to new system have been developed.

§  Dynamic online report generation facilities and content management system (CMS) has been established to ease the experience for all.

§ Centralized database system and comprehensive information security management for 8 wings and regional statistical offices have been transformed.

§ Payroll processing system for officers to staff and Office management system has also been done in order to ensure a more efficient and easier work flow management for BBS employees.
